Herbert L. Holland: Research Research interests centre on the investigation of the chemical mechanisms and synthetic utility of enzymic reactions. Currently under study are the cytochrome P-450 dependent hydroxylation of natural products by fungi and the enzymatic oxidation of sulphides to sulphoxides and sulphones. New methods for conducting biotransformations are also being investigated; these include the application of human cell cultures for preparative drug metabolism and the use of microorganisms for biotransformations under unconventional conditions. |
