C. Moule: Research Interests
Our past studies have dealt with the analysis
of the n -> ñ * transitions in the carbonyl and thiocarbonyl chromophores.
On excitation into the lower excited states such molecules become nonplanar
at the central carbon atom. This leads to a doubling of the potential function
describing the out-of-plane displacement. Data for these experiments have
been obtained from jet-cooled laser excitation spectroscopy.
Dr.Moule retired from teaching in May 1999, but continues his research with collaborators from Spain , and the United States (Wisconsin
and Akron ).
